NCARB

National Council of Architectural Registration Boards - administers the ARE and manages architect licensure reciprocity.

AXP

Architectural Experience Program - the supervised experience requirement for ARE eligibility.

Rolling Clock

The 5-year window in which all six ARE divisions must be passed. Starts when you pass your first division.

Schematic Design (SD)

Early design phase establishing the general scope, scale, and relationships of a project.

Construction Documents (CD)

Detailed drawings and specifications used for permitting and construction.

Life Safety Code

NFPA 101 - the standard governing building egress, fire protection, and occupant safety.

IBC

International Building Code - the model code adopted by most U.S. jurisdictions for building construction.

Programming

The pre-design phase where project requirements, constraints, and goals are defined.

ECO

Examination Content Outline - PMI's blueprint for what the PMP exam tests. The current ECO defines three domains: People, Process, and Business Environment.

PMBOK

Project Management Body of Knowledge - PMI's reference guide. The exam is based on the ECO, not the PMBOK directly.

Servant Leadership

A leadership approach where the PM focuses on serving the team's needs to maximize performance.

WBS

Work Breakdown Structure - a hierarchical decomposition of total project scope into manageable deliverables.

Sprint

A fixed time period (typically 2-4 weeks) in Scrum during which a potentially shippable product increment is created.

Kanban

A visual workflow management method using WIP limits and pull-based task flow.

EVM

Earned Value Management - a method for measuring project performance by comparing planned work, completed work, and actual cost.

Change Control Board

A formally constituted group responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and approving change requests.

TMC/NBRC - Respiratory Therapy

TMC

Therapist Multiple-Choice exam - the primary credentialing exam for respiratory therapists administered by the NBRC.

CRT

Certified Respiratory Therapist - the entry-level credential earned by passing the TMC at the low-cut score.

RRT

Registered Respiratory Therapist - the advanced credential earned by passing the TMC at the high-cut score.

ABG

Arterial Blood Gas - a lab test measuring blood pH, PaO2, PaCO2, HCO3, and SaO2 to assess respiratory and metabolic function.

PEEP

Positive End-Expiratory Pressure - pressure maintained in the airways at end-exhalation to prevent alveolar collapse.

FiO2

Fraction of Inspired Oxygen - the percentage of oxygen in the gas mixture delivered to the patient.

Ventilator Weaning

The process of gradually reducing mechanical ventilation support as a patient regains the ability to breathe independently.

CoARC

Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care - the accrediting body for respiratory therapy education programs.
